Maybe I’m still in a food comma from the holidays, but I was excited to read the recent article announcing the Food Network’s 2009 food trend predictions.
I happen to be a huge fan of cooking shows – all kinds from every food challenge out there, to cake decorating, recipes in 20 minutes or less, and those really difficult meals they make look so easy to construct. Because of my love for cooking I also keep an eye on communities, social networks, and blogs covering the topic.
Food Network confirmed what my gut (no pun intended) has been telling me for a little while now – cooking and food are becoming more and more digital every day! This is also great news for our clients in the food, beverage, and Consumer Package Goods (CPG) space – along with our television/film clients targeting foodies and health-minded consumers. It means more places to reach your audience online and pre-built communities to instantly tap into.
I think we’re going to see great synergy and a lot of integration options as the space continues to grow. Getting into this space early will be key because, just as with everything else, once the mass appeal kicks in it’s hard to stand out and make that lasting impression.
I’m always happy to talk about food so feel free to get in touch with me. What’s that – a lunch meeting? I’m there!
